Age-Appropriate Play is designed for educators to help them teach parents to promote learning and other developmental skills in their children through play. It teaches them how to provide safe and interesting learning environments as well as how to recognize milestones.
Volume 1: The First Twelve Months Topics include 1) holding and talking for bonding and stimulation, 2) providing environments for learning gross motor skills, 3) emergent self-awareness using simple games, and 4) playing with household objects to develop fine motor skills.
Volume 2: 12 to 24 Months. Topics include 1) building language skills through reading, singing, and playing games, 2) imitative and imaginative play, 3) outdoor environments and safe exploration, 4) motor skills and balls, water, sand, and other materials.
Volume 3: 2- and 3-Year-Olds: Topics include 1) developing fine motor skills using art and crafts, 2) positive social behavior at home and preschool, 3) improving language skills with music, stories, and books, and 4) encouraging increasingly complex imaginative and cooperative play.
