Product Description

Children may be seemingly absorbed in play and then suddenly overwhelmed by sadness, fear, or anger. A child may manifest eating and sleeping disorders, and--depending on age--bowel and bladder problems. Their grief comes and goes in waves.

Other behaviors might include withdrawal, dependency, regression, and restlessness. School performance and behavior problems may occur and may last for years following the death.

Long-term and delayed effects may include depression, lowered self-esteem, and suicidal tendencies. Given these possible outcomes, this program demonstrates the significance of giving bereaved children honest explanations, comfort, and support.

Talking with children about their loss and encouraging questions and memories legitimizes the children's feelings, decreases their fears, and eases the burden of coping with the death of a loved one.
