Parent Behavior Checklist (PBC): A Set

Product Description

The Parent Behavior Checklist is an objective measure of how parents are raising their young children, ages 1 to 5 years. It can be used to assess parenting strengths and weaknesses so that educational and intervention efforts can be tailored to each parent's unique style.

It can be administered to both individuals and groups. The scale consists of 100 items and includes three empirically derived subscales: Expectations, Discipline, and Nurturing.

The checklist, which takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete, requires a third grade reading ability. The PCB is hand-scored according to directions in the test. Norms are presented for children ages 1 year through 4 years, 11 months in 6-month intervals.

Alpha and test-retest reliability coefficients, respectively, are .97 and .98 for the Expectations subscale, .91 and .87 for the Discipline subscale, and .82 and .81 for the Nurturing subscale.
