Children with Hearing Impairments: Contemporary Trends

Conversations in Rhyme documents the pleasure, comfort, and benefit of folk games and songs from African-American, Scots-Irish, Norwegian, Anglo-American, Greek, Italian, and Yiddish-Russian cultures. The video has five distinct sections:

• Kisha's Song records a lullaby sung to an infant by an elderly African American woman as the infant settles into sleep
• Roon About shows an elderly Scots-Irish man demonstrating finger plays to a young boy
• Rooster, Hen, Pullet shows face games between a young African American woman and several children of different ages
• Ride the Horsie shows knee riding between a middle-aged man and a young boy
• Pittsburgh Songs shows an assortment of different rhymes and childhood games remembered by people of various ethnic groups.

This program provides a excellent stimulus for viewers to recall memories of childhood and to share the memoires and rhymes with young children today.
