The purpose of this handbook is to provide information about creating collaborative IEPs in a format that is easily understood by all who might be involved in the IEP process.
The format for each section of this handbook includes information about the collaborative IEP process, stories from families and educators who are currently working as members of collaborative teams, legal cites from the IDEA ?97 amendments and the proposed regulations, and quotes.
This handbook was developed by parents and educators as a quick-tip resource for those who believe collaboration is the best way to plan for positive futures for students with disabilities.
The handbook is intended for students, parents, paraprofessionals, general and special education teachers, related service providers, building and central office administrators, and others who participate in the IEP process.
