LearningGames English/Spanish Handouts 24-36 Months

These English/Spanish Parent Handouts are part of the Learningames: The Abecedarian Curriculum. Learningames is the early childhood curriculum developed for the Carolina Abecedarian Project.

This project provided child-care based intervention for at-risk children from birth to 60 months of age. These children have been followed up until age twenty-one.

Results include higher IQ detected as early as 18 months for children in the project, improved school performance, reduced grade retention, delayed childbearing, and greater likelihood to attend a four-year college.

The curriculum activities are derived from developmental milestones in the domains of social/emotional, cognitive/creative, language, and motor development. Each game is simple and fun and provides caregivers with an example of how to enhance child development.

Since the games are designed as a compendium of games or learning events, they are appropriate for child care, home visits, and parent groups.

Learningames is divided into five 12-month sections: birth to 12 mos., 13 to 24 mos., 25 to 36 mos., 37 to 48 mos., and 49 to 60 mos. Developed by Joseph Sparling and Isabelle Lewis.
