Product Description

Learning to live a healthy lifestyle begins during the early years of life. The Growing Growing Strong curriculum introduces health information through interactive activities. The activities supplemental background information and resources provide a variety of helpful concepts. Infusing the curriculum with health-related information address the total day-to-day needs of children and helps them practice habits that may well save their lives.

Eight health-related themes encourage children's curiosity about themselves others and the world around them:

  • I Take Care of My Body--Self care activities such as washing hair and teeth care dressing and getting adequate rest Foods 
  • I Eat--Recognizing hunger eating healthy foods' preventing illness and disease and identifying unsafe food items 
  • My Mad Sad Glad and Scary Feelings--Understanding emotions learning healthy self-esteem creating and maintaining friendships dealing with death and dying and emphasizing realistic methods of developing a healthy lifestyle 
  • My Family My Community My World--Understanding different types of families helping others knowing one's community helping the environment 
  • Be Safe Not Sorry--Knowing safety and traffic rules wearing seatbelts and stying away from weapons 
  • If I Need Help--Helping children become comfortable with health (e.g. doctors and nurses) and safety (e.g. Police and firemen) workers and understand what they do 
  • For MY Good Health--What children need to know about preventing disease drug use taking medicine and where and how to get the basic products and services they need to thrive 

Each theme includes sections on diversity ideas to extend the theme suggested learning center materials and recommended activities. They also include learning objectives staff information environment suggestions evaluation a family information and activity bulletin and child activities.
