Product Description

Values and Social Skills is based on candid interviews with a diverse group of teens from a wide variety of home and cultural backgrounds. The program includes voices from a diverse group of people, including African American, Hispanic, immigrant, biracial, and gay teens.

The teens discuss the influence of family, community, and school on their self-esteem, on personal codes of morality and on their ability to function socially. Includes discussion guide.

  • Part I - Family Life: Teens discuss growing up issues, what their families were like and the values and social skills they learned (or failed to learn) at home.
  • Part II - Finding Yourself: Teens discuss puberty, having an identity crisis, getting into trouble, questioning authority, and learning to separate their personalities from those of their parents.
  • Part III - Taking Responsibility: Now mature, the teens discuss their current attitudes and look back on values and social skills they learned from their parents and developed on their own.
