Come Back Jack
(SKU: 50217)
This documentary discusses the experiences of two parents dealing with their son's diagnosis of autism. "Come Back Jack" covers a six-year period; from the moment Jack Michael Parish was born on February 3, 1993, through the celebration of his sixth birthday.
Not long after his first birthday Jack began to slowly slip away from his family. Persistent ear infections, over-treatment with antibiotics, and other mysterious physiological factors sent Jack's mind spinning.
His brilliant blue eyes grew glassy. He became a captive in his own world. By the time Jack reached the age of two his intellectual and emotional development had come to a halt. Terrified by the prospect of "losing" their youngest son, Jack's parents began searching for answers.
Initially medical diagnosis of "moderately to severely autistic" was shocking, devastating, and- ultimately-inspiring. This video chronicles the ups and downs of the Parishs' journey, which ultimately led them to the Language and Cognitive Development Center in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. There, with guidance from a team of special educators, Jack began to emerge from his internal chaos, embracing life and the people who loved him.
Produced and directed by Jack's father, Robert Parish.
Music for the soundtrack was composed and performed by Jack's older brothers, Graham and Ryan. Closed captioned.
