Out! Making Schools Safe for Gay Teens

Out! helps administration and staff make schools safe through sensitizing teachers and teens, gay as well as straight, and offers suggestions for combating homophobia. It addresses the most common questions teachers face and offers suggestions about dealing with such vital yet difficult and complex subjects as combating homophobia, suicide prevention, inclusion, sensitizing students, and introducing the topic into classroom discussion.

The staff version (42 minutes) features four teachers and facilitators who are very experienced working with gay teens. The student version (27 minutes) focuses on candid interviews with gay teens talking about the reactions of family and friends, harassment at school, and the value of gay-straight alliances.
